Dr. Blum is board certified by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He received his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia (1968) and his postgraduate training in general surgery at Allentown Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania.  He then trained for three years at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery. 

From 1973 to 1975 he was chief of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento, California. Although he was already trained in many cosmetic facial procedures, he expanded his knowledge and experience while there by also becoming an associate clinical instructor at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. After practicing in Allentown, Pennsylvania for three years, he returned to Northern California and has practiced in Carmichael to the present time.

Professional Societies

Dr. Blum is board certified by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. His associations include Fellowships in the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S), the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Board of Otolaryngology, the American Academy of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, and many other local and national societies.

Dr. Blum is also a certified fellow of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. He was medical director of the Outpatient Surgery Center of the North Area, a freestanding AAAHC certified surgery center serving the Carmichael area. He is also former chief of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at Mercy San Juan Hospital in Carmichael and was an active member of the Trauma Team until closing his private practice in Carmichael in December, 2009.  Starting in June of 2009, Dr. Blum joined Lifestyle Lift as a part time position where he did over 100 face lifts and other cosmetic procedures (Blepharoplasty and Laser Resurfacing) thru November, 2009.  Starting December 28, 2009 he will be full time at Lifestyle Lift at their Sacramento center in Roseville.

Personal

Dr. Blum is married with five children ranging in age from 16 to 43. He is a grandfather of three. An avid skier and former National Ski Patroller, he also golfs, kayaks, plays tennis, and loves the Sunday New York Times Crossword Puzzle.  He is active in his community in Rotary (a past president) and as a member of the local school district health advisory board.  When he isn't busy with all this, he helps his wife manage and act as sommelier at Sacramento's favorite European bistro, "Gonul's J Street Cafe."
