Professional Experience
Dr. Blum is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and
Reconstructive Surgery. 
After receiving his BA at Franklin and Marshall
College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania (1964) and his MD from Hahnemann Medical
College in Philadelphia (1968), he began his postgraduate training in general
surgery at Allentown Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He then
trained for three years at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.
in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery. From 1973 to 1975 he was
chief of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at Mather Air Force Base in
Sacramento, California. Although he was already trained in many cosmetic
facial procedures, he expanded his knowledge and experience while there by also
becoming an associate clinical instructor at UC Davis Medical Center in
Sacramento. After practicing in Allentown, Pennsylvania for three years,
he returned to the Sacramento area and has practiced in Carmichael to the
present time.
Professional Societies
Dr. Blum is board certified by the American Academy of Facial Plastic
and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. Associations include Fellowship in the
American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S), Fellowship in the American Academy of
Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Fellowship in the American Board of
Otolaryngology, Fellowship in the American Academy of Otolaryngology and Head
and Neck Surgery, as well as many other local and national societies. Dr.
Blum is also a certified fellow of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. He is
medical director of the Outpatient Surgery Center of the North Area, a
freestanding AAAHC certified surgery center serving the Carmichael area.
He is also former chief of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at Mercy San Juan
Hospital in Carmichael and is an active member of the Trauma Team.
Personal
Dr. Blum is married with five children ranging in age from 14 to 41. He is a grandfather
of three. An avid skier and former National Ski Patroller, he also golfs, kayaks,
plays tennis, and loves the Sunday New York Times Crossword Puzzle. He is active in his
community in Rotary (a past president) and as a member of the local school district health
advisory board. When he isn't busy with all this, he helps his wife manage
Sacramento's favorite European bistro,
"Gonul's J Street Cafe."
